The most unknown of french artists should be futherly unknown around the world. No radio hits, there (apart one or two...). The stuff is woth discovering !

Arno - Covers Cocktail
The 1st one is an exception about what i've said first. I mean Arno is not french... He's from Belgium. This may not be his best record, but a good point of entry. Only covers, french and english ones (kinks, stones, beatles, queen) in his own particular drunk-and-strongly-lucid style...

And one more lie... There were some radio hits there, but deserved ones ! Some songs are in french, some in english. Tough rock, may sometimes sound like fugazi or gun club. Great.

Book of Angels - The Serie !

Okay, it's THE big deal.
The eleven released Books of Angels serie, aka Masada Songbook II.
Writen by John Zorn, performed by some of the most talented musicians around.
Eleven records, eleven moods, eleven styles, eleven atmospheres, eleven worlds. Eleven ways of playing Jewish music, of talking about its history.
Some people will prefer this one, dislike that one. But no one will get on well about the one to prefer, the one to dislike.
So I'll tell you the Truth. At last !
The eleven are equally worth.
It's more like answering the question : who are you today ?

Igorrr - Moisissure

Slap! What an album... I'm really out of words. Let me attempt. Track one - Valse En Décomposition - baroque organ chords with a low-fi trip-hop beat followed by a bee buzzing turning into glitchy classical piece. Track two - Oesophage De Tourterelle - light piano arpeggios, tremolos and octave scaling progressions turning into insane breakcore. Track three - Putrefiunt - solo monk voice over a flamenco guitar exploding into hardcore death metal cookie-monster mayhem. Or how about 40's gramophone swing laced with gabber? And then there are eight more tracks! I haven't heard such a collection of molded styles before, and it's working... it's working really well! Gautier "Igorrr" Tighten, is a French (unsigned!) producer skillfully experimenting with samples, beats, breaks, and genres. Tighten is also the founder of a speedcore death electro metal/nica project WHOURKR with a single album Naät (self, 2007). Look, I absolutely love Venetian Snares and any crazy juxtaposition of hard styles, but when I happen to venture outside of the leading names, I encounter mostly noise and thoughtless production. Igorrr changes all that. He brings the fun back into breakcore and intelligence into design. Igorrr is a sonic painter who throws nails into aged strawberry jam, lets the slime dribble over your favorite toy, and serves it on a silver plated toilet seat. With a goat shake on the side. Eat it. Moisissure is so fun, you'll be back for more.

A total mixture of genres, that doesn't sound like another collage. A perfectly coherent mixture !
Album is currently unavaliable for shopping although it would deserve to be bought.

We're not far from discography !

Formed in 1985, RUINS has still been continuing to develop and deepen their world for over 18 years, reigning as the pioneer of Drum & Bass duo. Tunes are complicated and mysterious, and songs are sung in the language of their own invention. It's high-tension, wild, heavy, speedy, acute, and powerful tremendous ensemble never sounds like they are only two players. RUINS started with the noisy hardcore sound, then moved into very technical, complicated sound, and now it shows high-quality performances with both characteristics. True hardcore progressive sound.

Kaoru Abe - Live At Gaya (10 cds box)

Recorded at Gaya, Hatsudai, Tokyo. It was September 9, 1978 when Kaoru Abe died young at 29 years old. He is a rare and real avant-garde improviser in the world, of course in Japan. These CDs in ten volumes contains the precious live recording of his last one year's activity.
